Bruno Mars would catch a Grenade for Me…and You

When you’ve been burned by an ex, becoming jaded-in-love is E-A-S-Y.

It begins subtly, with statements like “no good guys/gals exist.” And then before long, you’re thinking “get a room” to that cute couple on the subway who are holding hands and kissing each other.

During my break up apocalypse, I noticed how easy it was to start adopting the “he’s a jerk” mindset, and how in doing so, my hope in love was beginning to die.

That’s where Bruno came in.

I was driving along in my car, flicking through the radio, when I heard these beautiful words:

“When I see your face
There’s not a thing that I would change
‘Cause you’re amazing
Just the way you are”

My response: “Thanks Bruno!” (insert me blushing)

Wait, what!?

I remember thinking, “Did I really just say that out loud???”

Yes I DID.

And you know what, it felt AMAZING!

That’s when it hit me. If there are guys like Bruno and JT singing about romantic love in such dreamy ways, then why not use them as proof that kind guys do exist.

And so began my mission to increase my hope-in-love thermometer.

Whether I was reminded of love by Taylor Swift, envisioning JT serenading me personally with his song “Summer Love,” or being inspired by Beyonce’s Sasha Fierce energy-I was having fun and feeling super excited to meet my future great guy.

I can’t emphasis enough that you attract where you’re at, so having a high hope-in-love view helps seed out the great guys, versus the not-so-great.

After all, the higher you keep your love standards, the more you will be attracting great people who meet those standards.

Now it’s your turn!

Write down 3 love-inspirers who demonstrate that great guys/gals exist.

This can be a character in a movie, a singer or writer, even a real life example (maybe your bestie has a terrific partner). Get creative and use these examples as proof that finding a great person is definitely achievable (and heck, it’s exciting to know that one day you will be with someone awesome).

3. Keeping a “look out” for awesomeness in real life: i.e watching strangers do nice deeds such as opening a door for a person carrying groceries, being super kind to a cashier, or even a married guy treating his wife so kindly.  These serve as real life daily reminders that great people do indeed exist and so does awesome love.
